What is Domestic Violence?
Domestic Violence | A pattern of abusive and coercive behaviors, including physical, sexual and psychological attacks, as well as economic coercion, that adults or adolescents use against their intimate partners. Domestic violence is not an isolated, individual event, but rather a pattern of multiple tactics and repeated events. Unlike stranger-to-stranger violence, domestic violence assaults are repeated against the same victim by the same perpetrator.
Abuse that is put on to another person via physical, verbal or any other means that causes pain on any level and deprives the receiver of a healthy relationship
Aggressive physical actions against someone in the home
When someone feels that they have the right to take another person’s body and do whatever the they want to it (i.e. hitting, spitting, pushing, shoving, etc.)
The cycle of abusing someone repeatedly
Gaining mental control over a person you are closely involved with and stripping them of their most basic right to be safe
