The Firearms Technical Assistance Project (FTAP) is funded by the Department of Justice, Officeon Violence Against Women and is a partnership between Ujima, Battered Women’s Justice Project, and Esperanza United. The goal of FTAP is to aid jurisdictions in the removal of firearms from individuals who have committed domestic violence offenses and are now prohibited from possessing weapons.
Ujima’s role in this partnership is to provide a culturally specific lens to jurisdictions seeking to improve survivor safety and offender accountability. Specifically, Ujima provides training and technical assistance to improve responses to the Black community in jurisdictions seeking to implement this project.
