Improving Criminal Justice Responses (ICJR) Culturally Specific and Underserved TTA Consortium Project
We provide training and technical assistance (TTA) to grantees and potential grantees of the Improving Criminal Justice Response (ICJR) Program of the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women (OVW).
This program encourages state, local, and tribal governments and courts to treat domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking as serious violations of criminal law, requiring the coordinated involvement of the entire criminal legal system.
Through a coordinated community response (CCR), the ICJR Program challenges entire communities to communicate, identify problems, and share ideas for responding to victims of domestic/sexual violence. This results in new responses and the application of best practices to enhance victim safety and ensure offender accountability at each juncture in the criminal justice system through investigation, arrest, prosecution, and close judicial oversight.
Listening Sessions
We engage in virtual listening sessions with underserved and marginalized community organizations and ICJR grantees to inform the development of a community assessment tool focused on the criminal justice system.
Training & Technical Assistance
We deliver training and technical assistance to recognize and respond to the cultural context of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking in marginalized and underserved communities.
Community Assessment Tool
Our community assessment tool has been created to identify the needs of underserved and marginalized victims in relation to the criminal justice system and provide corresponding training and TA regarding the implementation of the tool.
